Several individuals and organizations have made the Judicial Voice Project possible including the University of South Dakota School of Law, the Unified Judicial System, the Law Firm of Woods, Fuller, Schultz and Smith, PC, the South Dakota Humanities Council, South Dakota Public Television, and the South Dakota Supreme Court. The following individuals were key to the projects implementation. 

John
Glover

John Glover was born and raised in northwestern Montana and is affiliated with Salish & Kootenai Tribes from Western Montana. John received his B.A. degree in political science and international relations from Concordia College and his doctor of jurisprudence from Willamette University College of Law. Tom
Geu

Tom Geu is Dean of the University of South Dakota School of Law in 2013 having taught for the program since 1989. As a professor, Tom’s areas included organizational, transactional, and capital formationcourses as well as business organization law. He is a two-time winner of the Law School’s JohnWesley Jackson Award for teaching (1997 and 2010), and as an elected member of the American Law Institute. In addition to being a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Geu has served in the important role ofnational reporter for the Uniform Limited Cooperative Act and as South Dakota Commissioner for the Uniform Laws Commission.In 2003, he was named a Uniform Law Foundation Scholar.Geu received a J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1983 and a B.S. in economics and finance from the Universityof Nebraska-Lincoln in 1980. Prairey Walkling

Prairey Walkling grew up on the Sicangu Lakota/Rosebud Sioux Reservation in  South Dakota. In 2004, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in American Indian Studies from Black Hills State University. After this, she worked in child protection in rural Nebraska and then served two years in AmeriCorps near the New Mexico/Mexico border. In 2013, she received her Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Kelsea
Kenzy Sutton

Kelsea Kenzy Sutton received her B.A. in English and History from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her J.D. and History M.A. from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.  Kelsea currently works at Johnson, Pochop & Bartling, a rural general practice firm, in Gregory, South Dakota.  She is licensed to practice law in South Dakota state court, the Southern Division of South Dakota Federal District Court, and the Sicangu Oyate Tribal Court in Rosebud, South Dakota.  Now that Kelsea is a full-time attorney, her passion for history lives on in her participation in various historical associations and projects.

Chief Justice David E. Gilbertson

David Gilbertson is Chief Justice of the South Dakota Supreme Court. Gilbertson. In 2006, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the National Center for State Courts for his defense of judicial independence. He serves on the Judicial-Bar Liaison Committee of the State Bar Association and has served as a Court Counselor at South Dakota Boys State since 1995. He and wife Deb have four children. 

 

Richard Gregerson

Dick, Senior Member of the Woods & Fuller Law Firm of Sioux Falls, has championed areas such as litigation, lobbying, eminent domain, and election law since joining the firm in 1963.  His array of experiences range from working as a special agent with the FBI to his Marine Corps service during the Korean War. Dick has also served the SD State Bar multiple ways during his tenure, as President or member of numerous groups for the organization. He recently received the distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, presented by Augustana College during Viking Days homecoming celebrations. Elizabeth
Aaker

Elizabeth Aaker resides in Brandon, SD with her husband Benjamin and their two children. In 2004, she received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Contemporary Media and Journalism from the University of South Dakota. In 2006, she graduated with honors from the University of Dallas with a Master's in Business Administration. She currently works as an independent contractor for specific projects of printing, graphic design, web design, marketing and advertising consultation. [CONTACT]

Shane
Artz

Hailing from Pierre, South Dakota, Shane Artz is an enrolled member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. In 2003, he received a BA in Mass Communications from Black Hills State University. Owner of Paha Sapa Video Productions, Shane has a dozen years of experience in videography working for or with several companies including Western Sky Media, Macrovision, Buffalo Chip Ink Barrel and the Professional Rough Stock Series. Annie
Woodle

Annie Woodle has a B.S. of Mass Communication from Black Hills State University and an M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology from Full Sail University. She is currently appointed as an adjunct instructor in the Mass Communication Department at Black Hills State University. Woodle teaches courses in media issues & journalism. She has used her technical expertise to collaborate with many BHSU faculty members on a variety of media and research projects, including oral histories, video production, and social media.
